ITN On Launches ITN Hub On Windows Vista
30.01.07, London Microsoft has selected ITN's multimedia division, ITN On, as its news launch partner for its new operating system Windows Vista.
ITN Hub sits on the user's desktop providing the very latest home, world, showbiz, sports and money news. It is complemented with 'fly out' video reports as well as featuring the latest weather for any one of 300 UK locations specified by the Windows Vista user.
The experience is enhanced further as ITN Hub's interactivity allows users to set up video/sound alerts for when new stories are added and view 'fly out' video reports on their desktop. Users can delve further into the Windows Vista experience by viewing the content through the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) application with 3D and animation effects.
Using ITN's professional video content, ITN Hub also features On This Day in History, 90-second video vignettes of historical events that happened on any particular day since film began in the late 19th century.
Nicholas Wheeler, Managing Director of ITN On said: 'It's a great accolade to be chosen by Microsoft Vista as their only news launch partner. This seal of approval from Microsoft is another great milestone in the development of our multimedia business. We're very excited about Windows Vista and look forward to developing the gadget and application further with Microsoft.'
Cynthia Crossley, Director, UK Windows Client Business Group, Microsoft said: 'We chose ITN On as our news launch partner as they have a great reputation for quality journalism and have made huge strides in putting content on new technology platforms.
